USCAA National Baseball Tournament Selected Northeast DJs for Audio Visual Support

"USCAA National Baseball Tournament"

Being selected to provide audio and visual support for the USCAA National Baseball Tournament was indeed a huge honor. Known throughout the state of Maine as trusted Disc Jockeys Dan DeBruin and I (Greg Young) were able to showcase their abilities as Audio/Visual specialists on the main stage of a National Tournament. Throughout the course of the week Dan served as Master of Ceremonies, introducing starting line-ups, player positions, announcing current batters, player substitutions and providing music for each individual player. I provided visual support by recording the games, putting together daily highlight reels and will be editing the weeks footage into a comprehensive highlight reel of the weeks events for each team.

Our week started early Sunday morning by arriving at the renovated Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Upon arrival, we were greeted by many of the volunteers who have spent months preparing for the USCAA Baseball tournament. For those of you who do not know the story of The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach here is a quick history:

From 1984 – 1988 the Maine Guides, a triple-A team for the Philadelphia Phillies called Old Orchard Beach home. The Ballpark also was home to many musical headliners including AC/DC, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan and Celine Dion. In the late 1990s The Ballpark went unused and the condition of the park quickly deteriorated. In 2007 there was a substantial fire which rendered most of the sky box area unusable. Since the fire in 2007 there have been huge efforts by the citizens in Old Orchard Beach to rejuvenate The Ballpark. This past week, playing host to the 2010 USCAA National Baseball Tournament celebrated the hard work and effort put in by the community.

It is widely said that the hospitality in Maine is unmatched anywhere in the country. After spending a week in Old Orchard Beach amongst the dozens of volunteers who made the tournament possible we are left wondering if this saying is a result of the residence of OOB. In addition to the many volunteers the Co-Hosts of the tournament, Central Maine Community College and Southern Maine Community College did a fantastic job ensuring that the week went smoothly for all the players, coaches and vendors.

In addition to meeting some remarkable individuals and hearing some amazing stories Dan and I were able to witness some fantastic baseball games. For the first time in USCAA Baseball Tournament history a no-hitter was thrown. This was an amazing accomplishment and a special moment for the players of Penn State Beaver.

In all, the week was amazing. As one of Maine’s premier entertainment companies it was a pleasure working with the USCAA, Central Maine Community College and Southern Maine Community College. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship between the organizations and we hope to be part of the USCAA National Baseball Tournament again next year which will be returning to Old Orchard Beach!

Stay tuned for highlights from the weeks games!
